Visible Body’s Human Anatomy Atlas is Selected as a Finalist for 2018 Jackson Hole Science Interactive Media Award

Newton, Massachusetts — September 5, 2018 — Visible Body announced today that their Human Anatomy Atlas app has been selected as a finalist for the 2018 Jackson Hole Science Interactive Media Awards. The winner of the award will be announced at the Science Media Awards & Summit in the Hub on September 27, 2018 in Boston.

Human Anatomy Atlas makes it easy for students, teachers, and healthcare professionals to see inside the human body. The app includes 3D models of a male and female human body. With the tap of a finger or the click of a mouse, you can access definitions and pronunciations, rotate around the models, zoom in, or dissect. "And you can do all that on an iPhone, iPad, Android tablet, or on a laptop--whether it's running Windows, Mac, or Chrome," explained Andrew Bowditch, CEO at Visible Body. "From our first release the goal has always been to make it easy to see inside the human body to learn and teach. In our latest release you can select from one of seven languages and we've gone beyond gross anatomy to include micro anatomy models. Students and teachers can see small structures in the ear, in the eye, and in the lungs."  

The Jackson Hole Science Media Awards and Summit (SMASH) is a partnership between Jackson Hole Wildlife Film festival and WGBH Boston. Now in its third year, SMASH18 is three days of highlighting recent discoveries in science and trends in science media distribution, with opportunities to talk to scientists from around the world.

Visible Body’s Human Anatomy Atlas has been named a finalist in the interactive category, in which the award will go to "the project that best integrates the interactive potential of media to advance understanding of science and scientific principles through web-based, mobile, downloaded and personal media technology.” This category includes apps, games, and interactive stories.

The other finalists for the award include: Augmented Reality Keeps Rivers Free-Flowing, from the World Wildlife Fund; One Big Robot; Fisheries Collapse, by the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and Cortina Productions; and What Happens in a Bomb Blast?, by Outrider Foundation, Alex Wellerstein, and Bluecadet.
