Visible Body® Releases All-New Skeletal Premium 2 Anatomy App

Interactive, Visual, and In-depth Skeletal Anatomy App Available in the Apple iTunes Store and for PC and Mac Download

NEWTON, Mass. — December 3, 2012 — Visible Body today announced the release of its new app for visualizing and learning about the human skeletal system. Visible Body’s Skeletal Premium 2 app provides a revolutionary interactive environment for an in-depth understanding of the more than 200 bones of the human body, including over 800 bony landmarks.

The app contains true 3D models of bones and ligaments in a complete articulated skeleton that can be rotated and zoomed to study details. Landmarks are visually identified on the models by a color map and are linked to extensive additional information, including pronunciation, muscle attachments, articulations, locations, and nerve and vascular passage.

The app is currently available for the iPad on iTunes and for PC and Mac download. An iTunes universal version is under development and will be available in the coming weeks for latergeneration iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices.

Users can use their fingertips or their mouse to rotate, tilt, zoom, and add or remove bones to see any combination of skeletal anatomy from any angle. The groundbreaking color maps of bony landmarks are proprietary to Skeletal Premium 2 and unavailable in any other anatomy apps on the market.

“The human skeleton has been at the core of medical studies since the days of da Vinci,” said Andrew Bowditch, CEO of Visible Body. “This app takes full advantage of today’s technological platforms to provide a fresh new way of learning about bones that is highly visual and completely interactive, and at the same time allows the user simple, intuitive access to amazing amounts of deep content and information.”

“You can have a few hundred bones laid out on a table in front of you alongside several large reference volumes for cross-reference,” said Bowditch, “or you can have this app.”

Skeletal Premium 2 also includes 3D moving models of synovial joints; a gallery of animations and illustrations that show bone tissue, pathologies, and regional anatomy; and a quiz bank with over 500 questions. Users can create their own 3D views and save them to a custom library, or take screenshots to share with patients or colleagues.

This is the latest in the suite of Visible Body anatomy learning and visualization apps and software. Its flagship app and a perennial bestseller on iTunes, Visible Body 3D Human Anatomy Atlas 2, was named the #1 anatomy app by iMedicalApps.com.
