Visible Body now offers the most accessible 3D learning products on the market

BOSTON – February 28, 2025 – With the February launch of new accessibility features, Visible Body now offers the most accessible interactive 3D learning products on the market. Life sciences students can learn with, interact with, and dissect 3D models using screen reader and keyboard navigation through Visible Body's teaching and learning platforms, Visible Body Suite and Courseware.

An extension of the software’s inclusive design features, VB Suite’s new Accessibility Mode includes screen reader and keyboard navigation that allows students to browse VB Suite’s entire menu, select any visual asset, listen to text descriptions, search for specific structures, and even add and dissect structures.

“This innovation is the first of its kind for 3D life sciences models. We are proud to expand Visible Body’s accessibility options, giving more students access to the engaging 3D learning that will help them succeed in their future careers in the life sciences,” said Andrew Bowditch, co-founder of Visible Body.

Visible Body also launched a premade Anatomy & Physiology: Essential Concepts course in Courseware, Visible Body’s learning and teaching platform, that leverages 3D assets and immersive assignments to enhance learning. This complete A&P course is adapted for screen reader and keyboard control, making it even easier for instructors to use accessible content in the classroom.

Visible Body creates content and classroom tools that are designed to engage more students and enhance learning. Increasing VB Suite and Courseware’s accessibility was a natural next step. With these expanded features, even more students and classrooms will be able to use Visible Body’s software.

Accessibility Mode is just one in a long list of accessibility features Visible Body has launched in recent years. In addition to Accessibility Mode, VB Suite contains:

  • A Listen button that uses text to speech technology to read aloud paragraphs of text
  • Keyboard controls that manipulate 3D models and navigate Flashcards
  • Adjustable background color and font size
  • Closed captioning on animations
  • A pronunciation feature for structure names

Additionally, VB Suite is available in seven languages, and the language can be changed easily through the Settings menu.

VB Suite began as a desktop application, but over the years, Visible Body has expanded its offerings for use on many different devices, including iOS, Android, Chromebooks, and the large touchscreens often used in classrooms and labs. The company was the first of its kind to offer both male and female anatomy models and the first to support multiple languages.

The team at Visible Body is dedicated to improving its products and listening to customer feedback—in 2024 alone, Visible Body released 35 software and content upgrades. Accessibility Mode is the newest step in Visible Body’s journey of continuous improvement.

Details about the accessibility features are available from the VB Suite and Courseware support articles.
